Idiolect

A composition of five instrumentalists, all of which are playing to the same recipe for a song. Each musician individually composed a line for their instrument in accordance with instructions on key, time and pitch. They were then filmed and recorded separately playing only to a metronome. Each recording was synchronised into a multi-channel sound and video installation that compiled each performance into one song. The audience could spatially ‘mix’ the sound in the gallery as they encountered the work on multiple screens.
